Sassenheim, September 2015

Sassenheim, Netherlands – Voltea and Atlantis Technologies, leaders in the development and commercialization of capacitive deionization (CapDI©) for water treatment, have reached a groundbreaking supply and licensing agreement. Effective September 1, 2015, Voltea and Atlantis enter a supply and licensing agreement enabling Atlantis to utilize Voltea membrane technology in the construction of their capacitive deionization devices. This partnership represents a significant step forward in the global expansion of CapDI© technology.

Voltea and Atlantis are world leaders in capacitive deionization, an extremely low-cost technology for removing dissolved salts from water. Voltea’s CEO, Bryan Brister, said, “Using selective ion exchange membranes in combination with electrodes in CapDI© significantly enhances the efficiency of operation, system performance, and overall device lifetime. Voltea’s development of technology, robust components and systems combined with tremendous market interest are fueling rapid commercialization and we are happy to be a supplier to Atlantis.”

Patrick Curran, CEO of Atlantis, added, “We are excited to partner with such a technically competent company and to utilize their robust and vetted technology in our Radial Deionization (RDI) systems.”

Voltea and Atlantis are focusing on a wide variety of market segments and applications. The size of the current addressable market is over $3B ($USD) and growing at 10 – 20% per year, dependent on market segment and geographic area. Voltea’s CapDI© technology (www.voltea.com) removes salts from water in a wide array of applications, ranging from industrial water reuse to residential water softening and consumer appliances. Atlantis (www.atlantis-water.com) addresses the global problem of cleaning high salinity wastewater, the byproduct of oil and gas, power, mining, and municipal water operations. Both companies are winners of multiple innovation awards.
