Currently, Toronto ground water contains manganese levels in the 150 - 200 parts per billion (ppb) range. These new regulations will enforce that waste water going into municipal water treatment plants cannot have manganese present above 50 ppb. Consequently, ground water removed from construction sites during de-watering for foundation construction must be treated to reduce the manganese levels to below 50 ppb before the water can be sent to municipal sanitary or storm drains.
CapDI was tested to evaluate its efficacy as a chemical-free way to remove manganese below the regulatory requirement level of 50 ppb. The results were a smashing success! Testing that was performed included 3 conditions: 40, 70, and 95% electrical conductivity removal, with the manganese removal as noted:
Before discovering how well CapDI can eliminate manganese in these water sources, a solution was being developed that required dosing of two different chemicals, then filtered with green sand. CapDI not only passed all tests on removal of manganese and other minerals, but it is also the only sustainable removal option that does not require any kind of chemical usage.
There are many facilities in Canada that can benefit from CapDI under these new regulations, and we are ready to help! Contact us at info@voltea.com, or +31(0) 252.200.100.
