Voltea, the global leader in membrane-capacitive deionization (CapDI©) electro-desalination technology, is launching its first residential-focused water purification unit, DiEntry, at PCBC on June 27-28. Perfectly suited to the water quality and environmental needs of high-end West Coast home builders and homeowners, DiEntry is next generation technology that leapfrogs any existing residential system.
DiEntry addresses the most pressing water issues in the market – quality, taste and waste – by using Voltea’s energy-saving CapDI technology to “tune” water to meet the needs of the homeowner and community. This technology has disrupted an industry that relies on chemical additives or so-called “soft” salt to treat water.
Because of its patented technology and growing customer base across multiple industries, Voltea was recognized as the Breakthrough Water Technology Company of the Year at the 2018 Global Water Summit in Paris.
“We’re pleased to provide a transformative product for the residential market that is based on our industry-leading CapDI technology,” said Voltea CEO Bryan Brister. “Home builders and homeowners will benefit from our experience providing water treatment solutions to some of the top companies in the world.”

Voltea, the global leader in electro-desalination water treatment technology, was named the Breakthrough Water Technology Company of the Year by Global Water Intelligence (GWI) at this week’s Global Water Awards ceremony in Paris.
The awards, which recognize companies that make a significant contribution to the worldwide water industry, were part of GWI’s Global Water Summit. GWI cited Voltea’s “successful commercialization of its CapDI© technology” as a key factor in earning the award.
“2017 saw Voltea’s capacitive deionisation (CapDI) technology take off as one of the most successful alternatives to reverse osmosis in recent years,” GWI said. “It gained significant market traction in the industrial and commercial sectors, with over 100 systems being shipped. The company also closed a $10 million funding round to further accelerate its growth, and brought the full capacity of its robotic module assembly plant in Dallas online.”
Voltea’s industrial and commercial CapDI© systems run with patented CapDI technology, which monitors incoming water quality in real time, and self-adjusts performance to ensure it delivers consistent, precise water quality.
“We’re extremely grateful to be recognized by GWI for our disruptive technology, which has transformed the way many industries treat water,” said Voltea CEO Bryan Brister. “Our salt-free, chemical-free technology is being used by some of the top companies in the world for a variety of uses, from cooling towers to point-of-use water treatment for coffee and fountain drinks.”
CapDI technology is a simple, two-step process wherein water flows between electrodes. The electrode surfaces are separated from the water by ion-selective membranes that allow positive or negative ions (salts) to pass. The system is tunable, allowing adjustable salt removal and continually adjusts to account for any fluctuations in feed water characteristics.
The winners of the GWI awards were chosen by GWI subscribers and Global Water Summit delegates.
“Voltea brings a compelling value proposition to clients who have traditionally favored RO, particularly given the need for less pretreatment and no remineralisation,” GWI said.
Voltea, which opened its production facility in the Dallas area about 18 months ago, has about 30 local employees and continues to grow.

Patented Technology in DiUse® Continuously “Tunes” Water to Perfect Salinity;
Significant Taste, Economic and Sustainability Benefits Result for Restaurants and Cafes
Booth #9213
Voltea, the global leader in membrane-capacitive deionization (CapDI©) electro-desalination technology, is showcasing its recently launched chemical-free water treatment systems at the NRA Show 2018, May 19-22 in Chicago.
These systems are tailored to help restaurants improve quality, consistency and taste in water-based products such as coffee and fountain drinks. The technology also provides no-salt, no-chemical softening for water going into equipment such as commercial ware/dishwashers to ensure spot-free rinse while protecting equipment.
Voltea’s energy-saving CapDI technology “tunes” water to the ideal salinity to match the application, which has disrupted an industry that relies on chemical additives or so-called “soft” salt to treat water. Because of its patented technology and growing customer base across multiple industries, Voltea was recognized as the Breakthrough Water Technology Company of the Year at the 2018 Global Water Summit in Paris.
For Restaurants: Advanced Technology Drives Taste, Economic and Sustainability Benefits
The featured product at the Voltea booth is DiUse®, which is of keen interest to restaurant owners and operators because it ensures consistent delivery of precise water quality with improved taste for coffee, water, fountain drinks and more.
Additionally, DiUse softens water going into commercial ware wash machines and other equipment without adding so-called “soft” salts or other harsh chemicals. DiUse provides no-salt, no-chemical water softening, thereby protecting restaurant equipment and delivering a spot-free rinse.
The salt-free, chemical-free technology is a simple two-step process wherein water flows between electrodes. The electrode surfaces are separated from the water by ion-selective membranes that allow positive or negative ions (salt) to pass.

The Global Cleantech 100 represents the most innovative and promising ideas impacting the future of a wide range of industries, according to the players in the market. Featuring companies that are best positioned to solve tomorrow’s clean technology challenges, the Global Cleantech 100 is a comprehensive list of private companies with the highest potential today to make significant market impact within a 5-10-year timeframe.
“Voltea is honored to have been selected to the Global Cleantech 100, and we are working hard to continue delivering to the world innovative solutions to worldwide water challenges,” said Dr. Bryan Brister, Voltea CEO.
This list is collated by combining proprietary CTG research data with weighted qualitative judgments from hundreds of nominations, and specific inputs from a global 86-person Expert Panel. To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.
This year, a record number of nominations were received: 12,300 distinct companies from 61 countries. These companies were weighted and scored to create a short list of 312 companies. Short-listed nominees were reviewed by CTG’s Expert Panel, resulting in a finalized list of 100 companies from 18 countries.
The 86-member expert panel is drawn from leading financial investors and representatives of multi-national corporations and industrials active in technology and innovation scouting across Asia, Europe, and North America. The composition of the expert panel broadly represents the global cleantech community, from pioneers and leaders to veterans and new entrants. The diversity of panelists results in a list of companies that command an expansive base of respect and support from many important players within the global cleantech innovation ecosystem.
“The ongoing mainstreaming of clean technology solutions and the rise in their strategic importance was evidenced by an unprecedented burst of recent M&A activity,” said Richard Youngman, CEO, CTG (Cleantech Group). “For the first time, now in its 9th year, four of this year’s Global Cleantech 100 companies were acquired by multi-nationals between the striking of the final list (in September 2017) and its official release today (in January 2018). More will surely follow if this set of companies achieve even half of their anticipated impact.”
The complete list of 100 companies was revealed on January 22nd at the 16th annual Cleantech Forum San Francisco:
