Voltea, the world’s leader in Membrane-Capacitive Deionization (CapDI©), for tunable, salt-free and chemical-free water softening and desalination, has a major technology announcement! Starting June 1, Voltea is offering a transformed line of Industrial and Commercial systems, dramatically improving cost, operational efficiency, footprint and longevity.
Engineering advances to Voltea’s CapDI systems include revolutionary improvements in electronic controls, re-designed piping significantly reducing interconnected dead volume, and the use of Voltea’s Single-block technology for module connections. This combination delivers a drastic improvement in system performance while achieving a superior cost structure to traditional desalination and softening technologies.
These advances required a repositioning of Voltea’s modules to a horizontal orientation, now called the IS-H (Industrial Series – Horizontal) Systems.
‘I am delighted to introduce the world to Voltea’s IS-H series. Our engineering and design teams have made a big step forward in product performance while dramatically reducing capital equipment costs,’ commented Voltea’s CEO, L. Bryan Brister.
June 5-8, Voltea will be exhibiting at the Clean Show 2017 in Las Vegas, where they will be officially displaying the first IS-24H to the market! Please stop by booth 3477 to take a peek at this advanced CapDI System!
Voltea Releases CapDI for Horticulture Case Study

Voltea, the world’s leader in Membrane-Capacitive Deionization (CapDI©), for tunable salt-free and chemical-free water softening and desalination, has created a case study based on our CapDI installation at a horticulture facility in Mexico. This case study focuses on how our CapDI technology cost-effectively and tunably removes dissolved salts from irrigation water, resulting in this tomato grower having the ability to grow their own tomato seedlings in-house, rather than having to purchase from a third-party.
CapDI’s tunability feature is especially significant for the horticulture industry as certain crops require specific and different salinities than other crops. This allows growers to target a specific salinity for tomatoes, and a different salinity for peppers and other crops, all while keeping the necessary and beneficial nutrients present in the irrigation water.

Voltea and Synergy Ambiental Hold CapDI Demonstration Seminar in Mexico

Voltea, the world’s leader in Membrane-Capacitive Deionization (CapDI©), for salt-free and chemical-free water softening and desalination, recently held a CapDI demonstration seminar in conjunction with Synergy Ambiental, focusing on the importance of achieving sustainability through water treatment and water reuse.
The seminar was held in Torreón, Mexico, where an Industrial Series System (IS2) was brought to demonstrate the technology first-hand. The participants had the opportunity to learn about Membrane CapDI, engage in a discussion for local solutions, and see a CapDI system run up-close. Additionally, a small water lab was set up next to the system to measure the raw and purified water to validate the results. Conductivity, pH, hardness, arsenic and sulphates were all measured at 50% and 90% removal.
“Our first CapDI seminar in Mexico was a great success! We had customers from the food and beverage, energy, and automotive industries who were very satisfied watching the technology working in real-time,” Guillermo Cuevas, CEO at Synergy Ambiental, acknowledged. “CapDI technology will allow us to provide our customers sustainable projects in potabilization for water consumption, pre-treatment for boilers or cooling towers, as well as water reuse projects”.
Synergy Ambiental (http://www.synergyambiental.com.ar) is an official distributor for Voltea in Mexico and a frontrunner in Membrane CapDI technology. Synergy is located in the north of Mexico, which is considered to be the industrial powerhouse of the country, but the water is scarce in certain areas due to the desert climate. CapDI is especially relevant here as the ground and municipal water present high hardness and high conductivity levels. Along with the conventional salt-free water softening and cooling tower make-up water use for CapDI, clients are also looking into wastewater reuse to take advantage of the robustness for biofouling and particulate fouling.
